An Important Message from the Organising Committee

1. Day Rate Registrations for the O’Dea Clan Gathering in Ennis, Co. Clare in May 2018 are NOW OPEN.  Full registrations are CLOSED but you can now register for one more specific days.
2. We now have extremely limited places available at remaining events. If you are thinking of booking please consider doing so as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
3. If you have missed out on being able to register for your preferred events please email the organising committee to have your name added to the waiting lists and should we receive any cancellations we will offer places to those on the waiting lists on a first come first served basis.

Registration

You can register for one or more of the following days:

• Thursday 10th May: €25.00
• Friday 11th May: €45.00
• Saturday 12th May: €55.00
• Sunday 13th May – Cliffs of Moher Day Trip: €35.00
• Sunday 13th May – Dolphin Watching Boat Trip: €60.00

Please note that the day rate for Saturday 12th May does not include the Medieval Banquet which is now fully booked.

The Battle of Dysert O Dea

These dates have been chosen because 10 May 2018 is the 700^th anniversary of the Battle of Dysert O Dea.

We are commemorating, in a special way, the 700^th anniversary of the Battle of Dysert O Dea where our ancestor, Conor O Dea and his allies, defeated the mighty Norman knight Richard De Clare and his forces.  A battle re-enactment at Dysert O Dea Castle will be a highlight, with the authority on the battle, historian Katharine Simms, a Fellow of Trinity College giving the keynote lecture.  You can read about the battle here: https://odeaclan.org/clan-history/#The_Battle_of_Dysert_O8217Dea_1318

O Dea Clan DNA Project

At the 2018 Clan Gathering we will have a lecture and workshop on DNA from local expert Paddy Waldron.  Some Clan members have already had their DNA done but we would like those males (sorry ladies it has to be a male!) in the Clan who have O Dea (or derivatives of the name) ancestors to take the Y-DNA37 DNA test with Family Tree DNA.  They can be found at: https://www.familytreedna.com/groups/o-dea-o-day-dee-project/about

Invitations

Formal invitations from the Chairman of the Dysert O’Dea Clan Association are being sent to current financial members of the Clan Association, honorary members of the Clan Association, previous members of the Clan Association, and prospective members of the Clan Association.
