The 11th International O’Dea Clan Gathering will be held from Friday 8th to Sunday 10th July 2022 in Ennis, Co Clare

Dysert O`Dea Clan > Blog > Archives

Dear Clan Members,

We are pleased to inform you that we will be organising the 11th International O’Dea Clan Gathering weekend from Friday 8th to Sunday 10th July 2022, at the Old Ground Hotel in Ennis, Co Clare.  This will be a slimmed down event and we expect that numbers attending will be lower due to ongoing Covid restrictions, however restrictions have gradually eased in Ireland with our high uptake of vaccinations and booster shots.

Clan Members will be able to attend in Person or participate in selected sessions via Zoom.

We are limiting numbers able to attend to 60 participants on a first come basis and a non-refundable holding deposit of €50 per person will be required with your Expression of Interest to attend the weekend.  The programme of weekend events will be similar to previous Clan gatherings.

The organisers are looking forward to another exciting and most enjoyable Clan gathering this year and look forward to renewing old acquaintances and meeting new attendees.

You can submit your Statement of Intent here: https://odeaclan.org/eoi2022

This online form also enables you to renew your Membership of the Clan Association.

Clan Gathering Opinion Survey – Thank You

Dysert O`Dea Clan > Blog > Archives

Dear Clan Members,

Here is a message from the Chairman of the Clan Association and the Taoiseach (Clan Chieftain).

Thank you all those who participated in our recent Survey.  We were blown away by the incredible response and welcome the insights your responses provided.

You can view a summary of the Survey Results here: https://odeaclan.org/clan-gathering-opinion-survey/survey-results/

As you know, the last Clan Gathering in Ireland was held in May 2018.  The next one was to have been held in July 2021, but we had to defer this.  We are starting to plan to hold the next Clan Gathering, again in Ennis Co. Clare, from 8-10 July 2022.  We anticipate that fewer people will be willing to attend owing to what we anticipate will be continuing uncertainty regarding Covid-19, including what regulations may be in place regarding visiting other countries, and that costs relating to all aspects of travel are expected to have increased.

Before the end of the year, we intend to provide indicative prices for a Gathering in 2021 and seek expressions of interest.  If it is feasible, we hope to broadcast or record some sessions and make these available for members.

This note is to provide you with an update that we do hope to run a Clan Gathering next year.  We will keep you informed of our plans through this Website, our Newsletters and by email.

We will also update you on plans for other Gatherings in other locations such as North America or maybe even in New Zealand where the one planned for 2020 also had to be cancelled due to Covid.

Message from the Clan Chieftain about the Next Clan Gathering in Ireland

Dysert O`Dea Clan > Blog > Archives

Here is a message from Joan Koechig, the Clan Chieftain:

Greetings from St. Charles, Missouri.

I hope it is cooler where you live. Nothing like living in Missouri in July and August with our heat and humidity!!!

I wanted to let you know that a decision has been made about our International Get-Together in Ennis, County Clare. For a variety of reasons that all revolve around Covid-19, the decision has been made to push our next get-together from July 2021 to July 2022. I hope you understand. These are trying times that we are living through.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

I hope that you and your family are safe and healthy.
