PHOTO UPLOADS

Objectives
This new feature is designed to greatly simplify the process of creating and maintaining photo galleries by providing a self-service system that will enable authorised users to upload their own photo galleries without having to call upon the assistance of a website administrator.
Uploading a New Photo Gallery
To create a new photo gallery, you will now be able to use an online form where you enter information about your photo gallery and upload the photos within your collection using drag-and-drop.
Authorised, logged in users will see a green “Upload a Photo Galley” button in a prominent position on the Photo Galleries landing page: https://ibmalumni.org.au/photo-galleries/
A particularly useful feature of the new system is the ability to crop and rotate each of your photos as part of the upload process. This means that you don’t need to use any photo editing software to edit your photos before you upload them unless you need to adjust the contrast or brightness.
Updating Your Photo Gallery
Once your new photo gallery as been published, you will be able to edit it – look for the blue button “Edit the Gallery”.
When you edit a photo gallery, you will be able to:
- Change the Title.
- Change the Gallery Categories.
- Change the Gallery Image.
- Change the Gallery Summary.
- Change the Gallery Description.
- Add Photos to the Gallery. This is particularly helpful when you have more than one person taking photos at an event because you can add extra photos to the gallery as they become available.
- Remove Photos from the Gallery. This can be helpful if you find that some photos are not quite right, e.g. out of focus, poor lighting.
Photo Captions
One of the features of this new system is the use of the filename (minus the file extension) as the caption for each photo. This means that you do not have to enter a caption for each of your photos during the upload process – you just have to rename each of your image files to give each file a meaningful name. The filename will be used as the caption for the photo.
Preparing Your Photos
As noted above, you don’t need to do anything special to get your photos ready for uploading. All you need to do is rename each of your image files to give each file a meaningful name. The filename will be used as the caption for the photo.
Notifications
You will need to publish a news item on the website or on social media to let your followers know about your new Photo Gallery.
VIDEO UPLOADS

Objectives
This new feature is designed to greatly simplify the process of uploading a video to the Clan’s YouTube channel by providing a self-service system that will enable authorised users to upload their own videos without having to call upon the assistance of a website administrator.
Current Situation
The Clan’s YouTube channel can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/c/OdeaclanOrg1318
The current video upload process is a cumbersome process requiring special YouTube skills in the hands of someone who has the appropriate permissions to access the Clan’s YouTube channel.
Uploading a New Video
To create a new video, you will now be able to use an online form where you simply enter your name and email address and upload your video.
Once you submit your form, your video will be passed across to YouTube for processing. This will take a few minutes. Once the YouTube processing has been completed, your video will appear on the Clan’s YouTube channel.
Notifications
You will need to publish a news item on the website or on social media to let your followers know about your new video.
QUESTIONS/COMMENTS
The main objective with these 2 new features is to make it easy for Clan members attending the Clan Gathering in June 2025 to share their photos and videos with other Clan members.
